What is Hardscaping?
Hardscaping refers to the non-living elements of a landscape — the stone, concrete, brick, and paver features that define the structure and flow of your outdoor space. It's the foundation upon which all great landscape designs are built.
At TRP Build Co., we approach hardscaping as both an art and a science. Every project begins with precise grading, proper base preparation, and material selection tailored to your property's soil conditions, drainage needs, and aesthetic vision.
Patios & Outdoor Living Surfaces
A well-built patio is the centerpiece of any outdoor living area. We construct patios in a wide range of materials — from natural flagstone and bluestone to interlocking concrete pavers and porcelain tiles — each offering distinct textures, colors, and durability characteristics.
We design patios to integrate seamlessly with your home's architecture, factoring in traffic flow, furniture placement, fire features, and cooking areas. Every patio we build includes proper pitch for drainage and a base system designed for your region's freeze-thaw cycles.
Our Hardscaping Process
We start with a thorough site evaluation, assessing soil composition, grade changes, drainage patterns, and existing structures. From there, we produce detailed design drawings and material specifications before breaking ground.
Our installation process follows industry best practices: excavation to proper depth, compacted aggregate base layers, leveling sand, precise paver or stone placement, polymeric sand jointing, and edge restraint systems that prevent shifting over time.
Retaining Walls & Structural Features
Retaining walls serve both functional and aesthetic purposes — holding back soil on sloped properties while creating usable terraced spaces. We build walls using segmental block systems, natural stone, poured concrete, and timber, each suited to different heights, loads, and design styles.
Walls over four feet require engineered designs with geogrid reinforcement. We work with licensed engineers to ensure every structural wall meets local building codes and can withstand the lateral earth pressures it will face for decades.
